Three Best Options for CompTIA A+ Study Guides and Exams

Not long ago, I had the pleasure (yes I’m a glutton for study stress) of prepping for the the CompTIA A+ certification.  As is my standard operating procedure, I went shopping for a quality CompTIA A+ study guide.  As usual I fire up and look to see what the best selling study guides are for the CompTIA A, and was pleasantly surprised to find not only several study guides, but also the all important CompTIA A practice tests (exams).  Practice exams are a must have for any certification exam prep!!

For those that are not in the know, you can just use the  Bestsellers Feature on to find out what people are using for their study guides. It’ll show you which book everyone is buying, then you can review the sample pages of the top 3 or 4 to get a feel for the writing and teaching style of each author that works best for your learning style.  The, best of all, you can read over all the user reviews from people who have actually used the study guides and the practice exams, to make sure it’s as good as the author says it is!  This way you can be confident in whichever CompTIA  A study guide and/or practice exams you end up buying!  Easy, right?

Enough of the babbling….here’s the best books in my research on the CompTIA study guide:

1. CompTIA A+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide, Seventh Edition (Exams 220-701 & 220-702), by Michael Meyers

The all in one exam guide by Meyers, was highly recommended by previous purchasers on Amazon, so this is the one that I ended up going with too.    Meyers really is an excellent teacher, and I found the book to be very easy to understand and superbly laid out and illustrated.  Add to that the fact that this book is professional, yet somewhat humorous at the same time, making it easier to get through this somewhat dry topic.  Being able to make boring curriculum entertaining is an art, and this is Meyers masterpiece.

Just read through the book, take the practice exams, and bam! you can’t help pass the CompTIA A+ certification exam!

2. Mike Meyers’ Guide to Supporting Windows 7 for CompTIA A+ Certification (Exams 701 & 702), by Michael Meyers

I got this one after a recommendation from a friend, and I’m glad I listened!  Mr. Meyers All In One study guide doesn’t have a lot of content on Windows 7, so this book is a no brainer, covering everything you need to know on the updated exams on Windows 7 questions.  Everyone on Amazon seems to agree as reviews are stellar at 5, and everyone feels this book helped their grade considerably, as so do I.

This Meyers’ guide to Windows 7 is apparently  MUCH easier to understand than the Windows 7 for Dummies book, and the practice questions and exams at the end of each chapter are a god send to passing the Windows 7 portion of the CompTIA A exam!

3.  Just kidding!  There is no third book in the three best options because all you really need are the Mike Meyers CompTIA A + study guide with practice exams, and the Michael Meyers CompTIA windows 7 study guide to get that passing grade!

These are just my opinions.  If you disagree, or have a better CompTIA A+ study guide to suggest, by all means, do so in the comments below!  Best of luck on your certification endeavors.
