Colors. I know what I like, but with millions of color choices available when designing a site, choosing the right color combination can be daunting. That’s why I depend upon online color scheme tools and wheels to help me decide. Each time I need to decide upon a color, I may choose a different tool for the job. For instance, sometimes I want to just randomly pick a color I like at that moment; sometimes I’ve seen a site that uses a nice combination of colors and I want to emulate that scheme; sometimes I want to use colors I’ve seen in a photo; etc. One of the tools below is bound to be the perfect tool choice for any of those scenarios, so keep the entire list handy for the future. (Note that there are lots more choices online, but these just happen to be my favorites).
Generate A Color Palette From A Photo
DeGraeve Color Palette Generator lets you input the url of an online photos to grab a palette of colors that matches the image.
Grab Colors From A Web Site Page
I Like Your Colors lets you enter the URL of a web page which generates a list of the colors used on that page.
Create A Gradient
Gradient Image Maker lets you choose colors to generate a gradient image, which can be used as backgrounds for various things such as buttons, DIVs, etc.
Get The Name Of A Color
Name That Color gives the actual text name for a color shade (such as Cornflower Blue or Burnt Sienna).
Color Scheme Mixers
Each of the following are similar in that they help produce a color scheme, using some form of color mixer, slider, or wheel, but each is distinct enough that I’ve included them all so you can choose your favorite.
