When Social Networks Become Actually Useful

Social networking can be many things, sometimes informative, sometimes fun, and sometimes a marketing tool. But when a social network is truly useful is when it goes beyond all the other Digg clones out there, and that’s what DZone does. Sure, DZone has the usual Digg-like qualities, and that’s all fine and good, but DZone goes beyond that. For instance, have you checked out DZone Snippets yet? Now that’s a highly useful feature for a site – the sharing of code. Oh…makes a geeky developer’s heart go flitter, flitter. You can share your own snippets of code, as well as use bits of code others have shared. I’ve found this to be really useful, especially when I need help in a hurry.

DZone also has other useful bits, such as the Refcards, which are nice, free, developer cheatsheets you can download, and of course the DZone blogs. DZone truly is the developer’s #1 social site. Don’t miss it.

Hi there, just found you through another site and wanted to say hi! Took a look around and subscribed. I’m looking for some inspiration for my own design work, which could use some of your posts. So here I am.

I’ve been under a rock for the past 10 years, so I’ll have to check out DZone a bit. Why reinvent the wheel right? :)
