Image via WikipediaCan you smell the pigskin in the air? Have you already started pulling jerseys and team sweats out of the closet? It’s that time of year again, when football (the American kind) is on everyone’s mind. I don’t know about you, but this webchicklet likes to be able to have instant information at her fingertips about all the games, and there’s no better way to keep track than via the Internet. So here’s my top picks for desktop gadgets, widgets, and browser plugins that will let you follow along with your favorite – and not-so-favorite – NFL and College football teams.
Firefox
First up is a Firefox add-on called SportsFox. SportsFox shows sports scores in status bar of your Firefox browser. All it takes is a quick right-click to get the current scores.
Mac Dashboard Widget
This free Mac widget, called Live Scores, lets you view live scores not just for football, but for other major pro sports as well (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL and NCAA football & basketball).
Yahoo Widget
Fantasy Control is a kickin’ fantasy football widget with pre-game news, live scores and stats, and post-game wrapups that make NFL fantasy leaguers drool.
Google Gadget
Google’s own Sports Scores gadget includes scores for Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Golf, College sports, and more.
One of those should satisfy your fall football craving, and enable you to keep up with all the latest scores. Or…you could just buy a whole bunch of TVs.
