Xoopit for Gmail Firefox Addon Makes Emailing Easy

Xoopit Makes Gmail Great!

I’ve been  a big fan and user of Google Mail since the very first few minutes of its existance.  I LOVE IT (yes that does sound weird).  Now I Love Gmail even more with the Xoopit for Gmail Firefox Addon.  And whileYahoo has just announced that they are buying Xoopit, I hope Xoopit for Gmail will continue to be upgraded and supported in the future!

What is so special about Xoopit for Gmail?

  • Xoopit improves Gmail search to show you the photos, videos and files that match what you are actually looking for
  • Xoopit let you browse photos and videos from YouTube, Flickr, Shutterfly, Kodak and Picasa. Links sent to your Gmail account are automatically collected, saving you the hassle of going to these sites.
  • Improved and easy file access in Gmail, means no more misplaced attachments!  This makes me a very Happy Webchicklet!
  • Xoopit allows you to quickly share info from emails with friends, Facebook or your blog.
  • Composing a message and need to cite some obscure web search result?  No problem, you can do that with Xoopit, quickly and easily!  LOVE THIS ONE! see photo below.
  • Xoopit for Gmail Firefox addon give your much more information and contact details about the people in Gmail’s conversation view.

As with all Firefox Addons, the Xoopit For Gmail addon is FREE!  In fact you can get Xoopit here.

While you don’t have to sign up with Xoopit, to use the addon, it is in your best interest to take a minute to sign up with them, so that you can view, search and send around the photos, files and videos in your mail.  I like, and use, this particular feature alot, so it makes sense to sign up for free with Xoopit.

Overall, Xoopit, has made my emailing experience much easier, however like everything in life, it is not without compromises.  You will find that it slows down gmail slightly, or alot if you are running on an old and slow computer.  Some Xoopit users have reported a major slow down, but that hasn’t been my experience, and the additional features make life so much easier.   Another drawback for some is that you have to give up your gmail login info to Xoopit.  I know some have a problem with doing that, even though they probably did give it up when they joined Facebook.  I guess it’s always a risk, but it is an acceptable one for this Webchicklet.

As mentioned above, Yahoo has offered to by Xoopit as of July 22, so if you are a Yahoo mail user (ewww), you will soon be seeing some of the Xoopit functionality integrated into your Yahoo Mail soon!

So go on, and give Xoopit a try today, and be sure to post your thoughts on it below.
